Sleepless nights, anxious days
Insomnia was a persistent theme throughout my 20s and 30s. Occasionally I'd sleep great and feel great. But, most of the time I'd be lucky to get 4 hours. And those days were defined by low energy, a lack of focus, and anxiety.
The search for answers
I became obsessed with finding answers. I tried everything from supplements to prescription drugs, traditional medicine to new age practices.
Through this journey, I learned that there are no silver bullets for insomnia. One pill, hack, or practice in isolation isn't going to do much. Good sleep is a product of your overall quality of life.
The transformation begins
My search for answers to my struggle with insomnia did end up giving me plenty of useful tools. But, it really wasn't until I started using a Whoop® strap that things really started coming together (and no, they aren't paying me a dime).
I was able to get insights into my sleep and it's impact on my overall health that I didn't have access to before. If I decided to add nightly meditation to my routine for instance, I could see right away what kind of impact that had on my sleep and recovery the next day.
zMilk and the Clean 30 are born
Over time, I've developed a comprehensive set of practices that have completely changed the way I sleep. One component is obviously zMilk, I've found that a relaxing nightly ritual involving calming herbs is extremely beneficial. And, not being satisfied with what was on the market, I decided to make my own. I absolutely love it, and I think you will too. This is just one piece of the puzzle however.
The rest of it is what I call the Clean 30. It's a set of practices that I've added to my routine over the years that each made incremental improvements to my nightly recovery.
Together, they represent not just a powerful combination of sleep promoting habits, but tools for a life consciously, and well-lived.
I call it the Clean 30 because this is a natural, holistic approach to sleep that doesn't involve dependency-creating substances, and trying this approach for 30 days is a great place to start.
